Dusk on black mountain, when you’ve walked further up than you meant to, and you know the gates to the car park are closing at 5pm (why?) and you Just. Can’t. Leave. This sky and leaves. The last evening call of the birds and the distant traffic of everyone heading for home. That last golden light in your eyelashes and on the edges of everything. The days heat is still in the rocks, and you can practically see the air full of shimmer and magic and sun. And for days, and maybe months, maybe years, that moment is stuck in your head. So you try to paint it.
